"...her art reflects a strong interest in the human psyche. She sometimes blends almost surreal imagery with droll humor."
Kevin Lynch, The Capital Times
"For some people, the images are a little disturbing, but Olea's wall captions really help to explain what she's trying to do.... I was really impressed with her colors and visual aspects and whole idea of representing migraines in images."
Shel O'Hare, curator of exhibits at the Wisconsin Arts Board
"Hi, I have just seen some of your art work - am impressed that you can appreciate and translate what other people experience onto paper!
I have only had two migraines, out of the many, that I could paint. Onet was of long sword shapes, wider at one end going to a taper - all different sizes but criss-crossing over one another. Each 'sword' was made up of interlocking triangles, all beautiful colours, lilacs yellows blues etc. It was an odd sensation and I couldn't focus my eyes properly at the time.
The other strange one was when I could only see the right side of a face - the left just wasn't there.
A lady sitting to the right of me looked like she had no legs from the knee down !
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I could tune in to what you are doing. Thank you..."

I'm a musician and I play the bassoon in a Sinfonic Orchestra and migraine is my mad companion of life. ... Regards from venice

"Thank you for what you are doing. You are such a wonderful instrument for those who suffer from pain. Your art is beautiful and inspirational. I posted a site last week for those suffering from pain to post poems, artwork, stories, imagery and other creative coping mechanisms. WE all need a voice as we suffer in silence. I suffer from RSD/CRPS in my leg and foot and know how important it is to feel like others understand.”

"I appreciate you allowing us to use your picture of a migraine for our upcoming Northeast Florida Medicine issue on pain management, for which I am a guest editor. The picture graphically depicts migraine misery. ..."

"I admired your artwork in downtown Madison lately, after reading about it in the Capital Times. I am a pediatric neurologist with longtime interest in headache art. As you can see from the enclosed article, I have recently published the results of a study having children draw their headaches are like. I had them use pencil and paper only and the results were dramatic. I can also get a sense of psychological factors, coping strategies, and self-esteem from the artwork.”
Carl E. Stafstrom, M.D., Ph.D.
”… I am intrigued by your incredible artwork! You can totally get inside of my head, literally, and understand the pain and magnitude; the aura, the swaying, all of it, so well. I have often longed to have the ability to put it so well on canvas or a wall at home; as you seem so easily have done here. … In any regard, I do find your work eerily familiar.”

"I so hope to meet you some day. I have admired your work for some time. I had met a few artists from Leningrad in the 1980s - Michael Chimyakin and Garrick Ellinson. I notice similarities in your work."
Ann
"Wow! You are so creative! I just love all of your paintings. I think my favorite one is the dog going to the bathroom on the golf course. My husband is a die hard golfer and I just found it hilarious!"

"Hello, I really liked your work..., especially the drunken Santa. Do you have it in a smaller size unframed...?
"Hello again. Yes, I would like to have the print mailed to me. Just to verify which Santa print, it's the one (as I remember it, anyway) with Santa and an elf careening across the landscape in the sleigh, fueled by a bottle of ( I think) vodka. Sincerely,..."

"I just wanted to tell you that I LOVE "Our House" and Many Moons". They are beautiful."

"I continue thinking about your art video so therefore it had an effect. I could read deeper meanings into the violence done to Mickey. I have to confess I have hated this mouse since I attained adulthood. Perhaps the real meaning is all in "My" head but thanks for entertaining the idea of doing violence to this long established icon of American culture."

"Your prints arrived in perfect condition. They were well received at the showing. The favorite seemed to be "Buzz." We had a wonderful day and your art work made it special, I was honored to be able to display it."
